A stunning autumn sunset fills the skies above Jordan Pond and the Bubble Mountains.
Print of the Week, March 14th
After a mixed bag of results photographing the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain, I took my workshop group by Bubble Pond to see what the conditions were like. In all my years of photographing there, I’d never seen the surface of the pond so still and beautiful. And with the combination of some bright autumn foliage on the far shore, we were able to create some sublime images.

Although it’s not part of the national park, I photographed this marsh on Mount Desert Island three times over two days last October. The colors were spectacular every time.

I had looked for a long time for a wall of color behind some birch trunks like this and was pleased to find this grove of trees right alongside the road, giving me a good vantage point to shoot from further back with a telephoto lens, which compresses the distance between the trunks and the golden foliage in the background.

I’ve spent the last couple weeks adding many new images from 2020 and 2021, removed a few of the older ones and made some other changes, including putting up a new gallery of aerial images…
Print of the Week, January 10

Print of the Week, January 3
One of the most beautiful, but still not heavily traveled, paths in Acadia is the Hemlock Road, near Sieur de Monts. I’ve photographed it on many occasions, but still find the most beautiful time is in the autumn, when the white birch trunks contrast with the yellows, reds, browns and greens of autumn and the path is carpeted with fallen leaves.
This square image will print as 10x10 inches.
