Although it's not part of Acadia National Park, "Little" Long Pond borders the park and was formerly the site of the Rockefeller family mansion, The Eyrie, built in 1914 but torn down in 1962. The land was donated to the Land & Garden Preserve by David Rockefeller on his 100th birthday in 2015. The family's boathouse on the pond has been preserved.
